HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women’s tennis team earned their second win in as many matches on Thursday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over King College at the Coker College Tennis Courts. The win improves the Cobras to 11-5 on the season with just four matches left until the Conference Carolinas Championship next week.

The Cobras opened the match with a pair of wins in doubles, as Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) and Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles and Cora Berna (Spain) and Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head, S.C.) won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Then in singles play Blanchard, Berna and Medley each earned victories at No. 1, No. 2 and No.3 respectively. Freshman Faith Baxley (Marion, S.C.) got the Cobras six victory of the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.

The Cobras have a busy week ahead of them with matches on Saturday (Wingate), Sunday (Mount Olive) and Monday (UNC Pembroke) all at home, with their final regular season match of the season on Wednesday on the road against Methodist College. Then on Friday they will begin play at the 2011 Conference Carolinas Championship at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
