SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Cobra women’s tennis team picked up their fifth straight victory, third in Conference Carolinas, on Tuesday night thanks to a 7-2 win over Converse College.

The Cobras opened match play by sweeping through double play with scores of 8-3, 8-5 and 8-3. Then in singles play they picked up wins at No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 for the 7-2 victory.

Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) earned her eighth consecutive win at No. 1 singles winning 6-1, 6-1, while Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) played a solid No. 3 winning 6-2, 6-2. Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head, S.C.) picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 and Brittany Yando (Sumter, S.C.) came from behind to win at No. 6 2-6, 6-3, 10-5.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday against West Virginia State at home starting at 3:00 p.m.
