Hartsville, SC- Coker started well today as they competed against Catawba College in a non conference match. Jill Smith and Rachel Lemar started the Cobras off with a quick 8-4 victory at number one doubles. Smith and Lemar played well from the baseline and attacked the net to pick up a comfortable victory. The Lady Cobras also won at three doubles as Catawba had insufficient players. Catawba did take one of the doubles to make it 2-1 to the lady Cobras going into the singles.

Catawba dominated at the top four positions winning each match in straight sets. Jill Smith had the match of the day for the Cobras as she raced to a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Knox. Smith played very well using her cross court forehand to move her opponent around the court. However it wasn’t enough for the Cobras as they lost the match 5-4.

The Cobras are now 6-6 for the season. The next match for the Cobras is this Saturday away at Queens University at 1:00 p.m.
