Cobras Fall to Patriots, 2-1 in Overtime

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College women's soccer team hosted the Francis Marion University Patriots in a non-conference match on Saturday (Sept. 16) afternoon and fell, 2-1 in overtime at the Coker Athletic Field. 

Coker put the pressure on the Patriots early, as Phoebie Eshen put the Cobras on top 1-0 in the third minute to pick up her first goal of the season. Lexi Garcia was credited with the assist.

The Navy and Gold held Francis Marion scoreless until the 88th minute, when the Patriots tied the game, 1-1.

Francis Marion used the overtime opportunity to score a second goal for the victory.

Coker got off seven shots on the night, two each from Eshen and Garcia.

The Cobras will be in action next Wednesday (Sept. 20) when they face Anderson University on the road. The match is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
