Coker Defeats Converse, 3-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Three different Cobras scored for Coker on Wednesday (Sept. 26) night, to give the women's soccer team a 3-1 Conference Carolinas win over the Converse Valkyries.

Baily Van Order started the scoring spree for the Cobras, after she fired in a shot that was crossed to her from Jenna Pacyna.  Coker took an unsatisfying 1-0 lead into the locker room.

The Valkyries however, were not ready to surrender.  Converse came out of the locker room reenergized, as a goal from Samantha Lockman tied the match 1-1.

Coker quickly responded, when freshman Jalynn Fortt beat a Converse defender down the sideline and evaded the goalkeeper to put the Cobras back up 2-1.  An insurance goal from Kelley Godbout in the 63rd minute sealed the deal for Coker and gave them a 3-1 Victory.

Coker will be back on the road for conference play on Saturday (Sept. 29), as they travel to compete against Lees-McRae.  The match is set to kick-off at 3 p.m.
