Coker Drops Heartbreaker to King in Double OT

BRISTOL, TENN. – The Coker women's soccer team lost a heartbreaking 1-0 Conference Carolinas match to King College on Wednesday (Sept. 19) in double-overtime.

In the first 90 minutes of the game, both teams battled evenly as seven players from each team fired off shots, but could not find nylon. Coker gave King's defense trouble with 11 corner kicks and nine shots, but it wasn't enough to take the lead.

Early in the second overtime, King midfielder Heidi Steger connected with the top of the cage when she took a free kick that just grazed over the finger tips of Coker goalkeeper Haley Gibson.  Gibson had five saves on the day.

The Cobras are looking for a rebound as they travel to Pfeiffer University on Saturday, September 22.  The game is set to kick-off at 2 p.m.
