Wrestling Drops Conference Opener to Limestone Thursday Night

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker University Wrestling dropped its South Atlantic Conference Carolinas opener to Limestone Thursday night (Nov. 11) by a score of 22-16.

The night began with a 5-3 overtime win for Limestone at 125 pounds, before Ruben Calderon evened the score with an 8-4 decision over Jaquion Williams at 133 pounds. After a team point was deducted from Coker, Omar Armengol put the Cobras ahead 6-3 with a 17-5 major decision over Brandon Seawright at 141 pounds. Limestone would respond with a win by major decision at 149 pounds, before P.J. Wunderlich would post a win by fall in the first period at 157 pounds over Demetrius Drayton to put Coker back in front 12-7. Corey Christie would increase Coker's lead to 16-7 at 165 pounds with a 14-1 major decision over Hunter Haven, before Limestone would win four consecutive matches to clinch the win. The Saints got a win by decision at 174 pounds, a major decision at 184 pounds, another win by decision at 197 pounds and a win by fall at 285 pounds to complete the comeback. Misconduct points deducted from both teams brought the match to its final score.
