Poland, Perkins-Willett and Correa Garner All-Conference Honors

FULL SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE RELEASE

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Three Coker University wrestlers brought home All-Conference honors from the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas wrestling awards banquet Saturday night (Feb. 29). Chris Poland (133 pounds), Corey Perkins-Willett (184 pounds) and Ramon Correa (285 pounds) were named to the All-Conference Second Team at their respective weight classes.

Poland finished the season with an 8-2 record, including a 5-0 mark in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas. His lone bonus point victory in conference came over Deven Perez of Emmanuel (Ga.) who he defeated by tech fall 17-0 on Feb. 16. Poland is ranked No. 17 in FloWrestling's latest national poll. Poland was named the league's Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 20-26. The Hastings, Mich. native is the son of Hope Middlemiss and Wade and Lori Poland, and is a communications major.

Perkins-Willett finished the season 14-4, including a 7-0 mark in the league. He posted three bonus point wins in league action, with two wins by fall and one by major decision. Perkins-Willett placed fifth at the Super Region II Championships back on Saturday. The Harvey, Ill. native is the son of Gina Strong and Ryan Willett, and is a marketing major.

Correa finished the season 12-3, while ranking in three national polls throughout the season. He was slated No. 4 in the latest The Open Mat poll, No. 11 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association poll and No. 11 in the latest FloWrestling poll. Against the conference he posted a record of 5-0, with one major decision over Austin Watkins of Queens (N.C.) back on Jan. 27. The West Oive, Mich. native is a business major.

This is the first career All-Conference honor for all three wrestlers.
