HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College wrestling program will make its return to the national stage on Friday (Mar. 7) when Ramon Correa hits the matt in his quest for a greatness at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. Correa will become just the fourth wrestler in Coker history to represent the Navy and Gold on the NCAA's biggest stage, and the first since fellow heavyweight Austin Akins made a historic run that saw him finish fourth in the nation and become an All-American.

"We are excited for Ramon, he's an individual that does whatever we ask when we ask it" said head coach Derrick Nelson. "He's a select member of the Coker wrestling history now and we are excited for this weekend." Correa is looking to cap off a promising first year at the helm for Nelson, who was quite the wrestler himself during his time at Coker, and help to put the Coker wrestling team back on the map.

The redshirt junior out of West Olive, Michigan is in just his first season of competition at Coker after transfering from Muskegon Community College and did not disappoint as he was victorious 13 times this season, losing only five times all season. Correa has been a force to be reckoned with for the Navy and Gold as he picked up four of his wins by way of fall, not including his pair of pins at the NCAA super regionals.

His promising season was put on hold midway through the season due to an injury but Correa came back on a mission, a mission to be one of the select few to compete for a national championship in Cleveland, Ohio. In the days leading up to the big day Correa has not focused on all of the noise and just the fact that he will be there. Just being there is not enough, Correa wants to win and will stop at nothing but being a national champion.
