Coker Wrestling Adds Four

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College head wrestling coach Michael Baxter announced the addition of Khyree Alexander, Alex Cartee, Taylor Catoe, and Dean Duncan to the 2017-18 roster.

Alexander attends Arabia Mountain High School, where he is a member of the wrestling and baseball teams for the Rams. Alexander, a projected 133/141 pounder, is a two-time state qualifier and placed fifth this past season in the GHSA 5A State Wrestling Tournament. The Lithonia, Ga. native was a member of the Honor Roll and is the son of Melanie Malveaux-Alexander and Spencer Alexander. He plans on studying Business Management/Administration.

Cartee attends Crescent High School, where he is a member of the wrestling, football, baseball, and golf teams for the Tigers. Cartee, a projected 157 pounder, is a two-time state qualifier, a two-time regional champion, and a North/South All-Star. The Pendleton, South Carolina native was a member of the Honor Roll and the FCA. Cartee is the son Darrell and Dawn Cartee and plans to major in Education.

Catoe attends Lugoff-Elgin High School, where he is a member of the wrestling team for the Demons. Catoe, a projected 141/149 pounder from Lugoff, S.C., was a three-time regional champion, two-time lower state champion, and had third place and runner-up finishes in the South Carolina State Championships. In the classroom, Catoe was member of the Honor Roll. He is the son of Ronnie and Renee Catoe and plans to major in Education.

Duncan attends Carolina Forest High School, where he is a member of the wrestling and football teams for the Panthers. Duncan, a projected 285 pounder from Myrtle Beach, S.C., earned First Team All-Area, All- Region, All-County, and All-Conference honors. He is the son of Randy and Brandi Duncan.

When asked about his first group of signings, head coach Michael Baxter said, "I am very excited about this group of newcomers. These four wrestlers from South Carolina and Georgia were raised in households that put a premium on character and values, which is the foundation upon which we are building this program", stated Baxter. "These young men have had success both on the wrestling mat and in the classroom. As last years class did, this group will come in make an immediate impact on our team."
