Coker Wrestling Stays at No.8 in Super Region 2; Nelson Takes Top Spot Individually

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker senior Derrick Nelson moved up to the No. 1 spot in the 133-pound weight division according to the latest NCAA Division II Coaches' Super Region 2 rankings released on Wednesday (Feb. 10). As a team the Cobra wrestlers are ranked No. 8 in Super Region 2.

Nelson moved up to the top spot in the 133-pound weight class after picking up his sixth tech fall of the season over UNC Pembroke last week. Currently, Nelson is ranked No. 6 in the nation in tech falls. Nelson is 26-3 on the year with nine falls and six tech falls.

In addition to Nelson's regional ranking, Charlie Huff is ranked No. 5 in the 125-pound weight class. The senior is 26-8 on the year with four falls and five major decisions.

Freshmen Jordon Tague and Shabo Gorial moved into the No. 5 spots in the 149-pound and 157-pound weight classes, respectively. Tague is 19-5 this season with seven pins, while Gorial is 15-5 with four falls and two tech falls.

The Cobras wrap-up the regular season portion of their schedule on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Anderson University.
