Thompson Signs as First Wrestler in 2013-14 Class

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College head men's wrestling coach Cy Wainwright has announced his first signing for the inaugural season. Kevin Thompson has signed a national letter of intent and will be joining the Cobras beginning in the 2013-14 academic year.

"Kevin is an outstanding wrestler and person," Wainwright said. "He comes from a great family and high school program, and we are thrilled he has committed to Coker. I am expecting big things out of him from day one."

Thompson comes to Coker from Eastside High School in Covington, Ga. He is a four-year letterwinner in wrestling, totaling 208 career wins. Thompson went undefeated his senior season with a perfect 64-0 record, capturing the state championship at 145 pounds. Along with the state title he won three region titles, two sectional titles and been named a National High School Coaches Association All-American. Thompson also lettered in cross country.

Kevin is the son of Kevin and Joann Thompson.
