Coker Drops Season Opener to Barton Bulldogs

Hartsville, SC - The Coker University Women's Lacrosse Team dropped their first game of the season to Barton on February 4th by a score of 17-10. 

Kaya Bartlett of Barton started the game off strong, scoring within the first two minutes. Coker struggled to answer as the Bulldogs as Barton rattled off another two goals, taking their lead to 3-0. Abby Gross got the Cobras started in the second quarter from a free position shot. Within 20 seconds of Coker's goal, they were able to bring the score to 2-3, the ball put in the back of the net by Amanda Arguello. Barton was able to add on another three goals through the second quarter, Coker keeping pace being just down by one to go into the second half. 

At the beginning of the third quarter, the Bulldogs earned their seventh goal from a free position shot while Coker remained at five. Madeline Hart scored the sixth goal for the Cobras, ultimately bringing in momentum and lessening the lead. Hailey Morgan, Abby Gross, and Amanda Arguello each registered goals for the third quarter. Leaving the third quarter, the Cobras were down three goals at 10-13. To finish the fourth quarter, Barton rattled off four consecutive goals with no answer from the Cobras.

Abby Kellner was the goalie for the entirety of the 60 minute game, saving 11 shots. 

The Cobras will return to the field in Franklin Springs, GA. The first draw is set for 12 PM against Emmnuel College. Live streaming and stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com
