Cobras Host Point University for Wednesday Non-Conference Matchup

HARTSVILLLE, S.C.- Coker women's lacrosse will host the Point University Skyhawks on Wednesday (Apr. 12) in a non-conference tilt. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras (10-3, 5-1 SAC) continued their strong play in conference last Saturday (Apr. 8) when they downed Tusculum 19-14. Marabeth Durden and Faith Kent each recorded seven points in the win, with Durden scoring a team-high five goals while dishing out two assists. Kent found the back of the net four times and added three helpers. Haley McCusker also scored four goals, including setting the new single-season goal record with her 51st marker of the season. Lindsay Ordemann and Mackenzie Baker each tallied two goals, while Bailey O'Brien and Claudia Jenkins each added one. Coker collected 14 ground balls as a team, with Skylar Stowers and Ordemann each scooping up three. The Cobras also won the draw control battle 18-17, with Baker snagging a team-high five. Cassie Williams (10-3) made eight saves.

McCusker's 52 goals lead the conference, while Kent's 39 are tied for fifth. Kent's 27 assists are third in the conference, while Durden is tied for 10th with 13 helpers. Kent now leads the league in total points with 66, while McCusker is fourth in the category with 60. On the defensive side, Durden's 44 ground balls are third in the league, while Ordemann's 37 are tied for eighth. Kaitlyn Kimball is tied for 10th in the category with 37. Kimball also leads the conference in caused turnovers. Durden is third in the league with 24, while Ordemann is ninth in the conference with 17. Coker has also had success on draw controls, with Durden's 45 being tied for fourth. Baker's total of 40 is eighth in the league, while Ordemann is 12th in the league with 33.

The Skyhawks come into the matchup with a 7-9 overall record including a 4-4 mark in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Dakota Overton leads Point with 22 goals and eight assists for a team-high total of 30 points.

Opening draw is set for 5:00 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
