Coker's Williams Named Conference Defensive Player of the Week

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's lacrosse netminder Cassie Williams was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today. The league's full release can be found here.

The freshman backstop led Coker (5-1, 2-0 SAC) to two decisive wins during the week. During Coker's 21-10 win over West Virginia Wesleyan last Tuesday (Mar. 7), Williams made six saves. Coker went on to defeat Brevard 18-4 on Saturday (Mar. 11) and Williams stopped six of 10 total shots faced.

On the season, Williams has totaled 55 saves, which is fourth-best in the SAC. Williams's 50.9 save percentage is third-best in the conference. 

The Rockledge, Fla. native is the daughter of Marcina and Christopher Williams, and is a pre-med major.
