Cobras Welcome Warriors for Tuesday Matinee

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker women's lacrosse team will play host to the East Stroudsburg University Warriors on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 14) in non-conference action. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com

The Cobras (5-1, 2-0 SAC) last played on Saturday (Mar. 11) when they defeated Brevard 18-4 on the road. Haley McCusker registered a game-high seven goals, while Marabeth Durden and Faith Kent each recorded hat tricks in the win. Mackenzie Baker found the back of the net twice, while Katie Driskell and Jesse Sternberg each scored once. Defensively, the Cobras won the draw controls 15-7, with Durden collecting a team-high five. The Cobras also controlled the ground ball battle 24-14, with Durden scooping up a team-high five. Driskell, McCusker and Kaitlyn Kimball each picked up three ground balls in the contest. Cassie Williams (5-1) stonewalled six shots in the win.

On the season, McCusker's team-high 27 goals are second in the SAC, while Kent's 19 are tied for fifth. Claudia Jenkins (12, T-15th) and Durden (11, T-22nd) are the Cobras other double-digit goal scorers. Kent's team-high 12 assists rank third in the league. On the defensive end, Kimball and Durden are back-to-back in the ground ball category, with Kimball's 23 ranked fifth and Durden's 22 ranked sixth. Durden is also fourth in the league in draw controls with 25, while Baker sits in sixth with 21. Kimball also leads the league in caused turnovers with 24. Between the pipes, Cassie Williams has totaled 55 saves, which is fourth-best in the SAC. Williams's 50.9 save percentage is third-best in the conference.

The Warriors come into the matchup with a perfect 3-0 record, having yet to play a game in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. They are led offensively by Chessie Rahmer, who leads the team in goals (9) and points (13).

Opening draw is set for 12:00 p.m. at the Coker College athletic field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
