Women’s Lacrosse Debuts at No. 6 in Preseason Poll

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's Lacrosse team was voted sixth in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll, the league office announced today.

To go along with the ranking, freshmen attackers Mackenzie Baker and Hayley Ferone were both named SAC preseason second-team all-conference.

The Cobras are set to begin their inaugural season in 2014. They are led by head coach Steve Efland. The first-year schedule is headlined with matches against Division I Furman University and Division II powerhouses Kutztown University and Rollins College. Coker opens its season Thursday, Feb. 13 at home against Furman.

Queens University of Charlotte took home the top spot with 35 points and five first-place votes. Lenoir-Rhyne University was right behind with 32 points and the remaining two first place-votes.

The entire preseason poll is as follows: 1. Queens University of Charlotte; 2. Lenoir-Rhyne University; 3. Catawba College; 3. Newberry College; 5. Wingate University; 6. Coker College; 7. Brevard College.
