Cobras Move Up to 10th at SAC

SALISBURY, NC -- Three Coker University golfers fired in the 70s on Monday as the Cobras moved up one spot in the South Atlantic Conference Championships.

Playing on the par-71, 5,985-yard Country Club of Salisbury layout, the Cobras carded a round of 36-over par 320. That leaves the Cobras in 10th place at 80-over par heading into Tuesday morning's final round.
Leading the way for Coker was freshman Gisele Morna, who had one of the best rounds in the field at 1-over 72. Sophomore Daniella Gyoni shot 78 and freshman Felicia Sundgren came in at 79. Rounding out the scoring for the Cobras were senior Mack Taylor Bailey and junior Haylie George. Each shot 91.
The Cobras had seven birdies, four more than on Sunday, but had six holes worse than double bogey. Morna had a very steady round with four bogeys and three birdies. Gyoni and Bailey rolled in two birdies apiece.
"I thought we had one really good score from Gisele, who played excellent, and two decent scores from Daniella and Felicia," Coker head coach John Hackney said. "We just needed a fourth score, which we did not get. We came in as the 9th seed and we're in 10th place, so it would be great to climb up one more spot tomorrow."
Nationally 8th-ranked Anderson continues to dominate the event. The Trojans shot 7-over 287 on Monday and are +12 overall, 15 shots ahead of Lincoln Memorial and 27 shots up on Carson-Newman.
Dilyara Bulambayeva of LMU has the individual lead at +1, followed by Anderson's Aly Francis (+2) and Zoey Iglesias (+3).
