Cobras, Sundgren lead BC Invite

WILSON, N.C. -- Freshman Felicia Sundgren of Sweden and her Coker teammates lead the Barton Intercollegiate after Monday's first round at Wilson Country Club.

Sundgren carded a 3-over 75 for the individual lead and the Cobras shot 25-over 313 to grab a 9-shot lead over Emory & Henry in the seven-team field. Sundgren has a 1-shot advantage over Emory & Henry's Katie Hall. Coker sophomore Daniella Gyoni, also from Sweden, stands third, just two back of the lead.
Coker senior Mack Taylor Bailey (Castaic, CA) fired a 79, junior Haylie George (Hillsborough, NC) carded an 82 and junior Kelly Campman (Myrtle Beach, SC) notched an 85 to round out the Cobras scoring.
The second and final round of the event begins Tuesday morning.
"It's nice to see the ladies at the top of the leaderboard," Coker head coach John Hackney said. "Coach Dan Schmotzer (assistant coach) has them rolling, so it would be great to see them claim their second tourney title of the year. Wilson Country Club is a tight course, so we did well to post a 313.  I know they will want to take it even deeper tomorrow. Felicia's game is starting to really come around, so it's awesome to see her leading the pack."
