Women's Golf Competes In Second Round Of Savannah Lakes Invitational

McCORMICK, SC -- Freshman Gisele Morna and sophomore Daniella Gyoni fired 75 and 77, respectively, on Monday to pace the Coker women's golf team in the second round of the Savannah Lakes Invitational.

The Cobras, who entered the round 4th of 14 schools in a talent-laden field after shooting 302 on Sunday, shot 314 on Monday and dropped to 9th place.
Morna (Lisbon, Portugal) rolled in two birdies on each nine for a round of 3-over par and is still very much in the running to win the individual title heading into Tuesday's final 18 of the 54-hole event. She is tied for third place, just four shots off the lead.
Gyoni (Villenge, Sweden) notched two birdies and came home with a back-nine 37 for her total. She was solid off the tee, hitting 13 of 14 fairways, and needed 28 putts.
Junior Kelly Campman (Myrtle Beach, SC) had one of her best collegiate rounds, rattling in three birdies. If not for a triple bogey on No. 17, she would have had her career low.
Senior Mack Taylor Bailey (Castaic, CA) was victimized by a few big holes but scrambled really well to finish at 82. Bailey got up and down both times from bunkers, went 7-for-11 overall in scrambling and had 29 putts. Junior Haylie George carded an 84
"We just had too many big holes today," Coker head coach John Hackney said. "We finished with five double bogeys and two triple bogeys in our four counting scores, which led to a big drop in the standings. Our ladies are hitting some great shots, but that handful of bad ones really cost us.
"This bunch has a lot of talent, and when we play well, we can be competitive with some great teams. They are really fired up about going low tomorrow to finish off a good week."
