Women’s Golf Takes on the Surratt Memorial Invite

Monroe, NC-  Coker had some great performances from their players on the first day of the invite. Coker had some great competition in the field taking on two nationally ranked teams in Wingate and Lander University.

Kathleen Escobar led the Cobras shooting 81 through the first day. Daniella Gyoni followed up tied for 34th shooting an 83. Mack Bailey shot an 84 through 18 holes. finishes the day with an 88. Jenna Werle finishes the day for the Cobras with a 95.

Coach Hackney had this to say about Day 1:

"It was really a struggle out there for our women today. We had so many doubles, triples, and quads that there was no way for us to put up good scores. Course conditions were a bit rough with recent rains and frost the last few days, so it wreaked havoc on the play of a lot of the ladies from all the participating teams, which was evidenced by the high scores.

"We still have two holes left in the second round, and then we'll have to play the final 18, so hopefully we will rebound with an excellent final round and pass some teams."
