White Scores Collegiate Low in Day One of Converse Spring Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Coker University women's golf team had a stellar outing in day one of the Converse Spring Invitational today (March 7).

The Cobras currently sit in fifth as a team, shooting 325 (+37) on the day.

"The girls did great today," Cobras assistant coach Dan Schmotzer said.

Jordan White is currently in second place after shooting a 73 (+1) on the day. Jenna Werle sits tied for 21st after shooting an 81 (+9). Lora Ledbetter shot an 85 (+13), Maggie Jennings-Campbell shot an 86 (+14), and Katie Smith shot an 87 (+15)

White hit 16 of 18 greens and 12 of 14 fairways, which was outstanding on a windy day. She carded birdies on Holes 9 and 12, almost making an ace on 12. She is in second place, just two back of leader Hannah Stephenson of Lander."

Coker's Jenna Werle got off to a scorching start, making four birdies on her front nine, but had a tough finish to shoot 81. She is tied for 21st.

"We are so fired up for senior captain Jordan White, who played brilliantly in firing a collegiate low of 1-over 73, which is also one of the best rounds in school history," said head coach John Hackney.

"We are just eight shots back of 3rd place, so we want to shave off a bunch of shots to climb even higher," head coach John Hackney said. "We have the ability to put four girls in the 70s, so we would like to see that happen tomorrow!"

Coker is back in action tomorrow as they wrap up play at the Converse Spring Invitational.
