Women’s Golf Finishes Strong at Spring Kickoff

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Coker University women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2022 Spring Kickoff hosted at The Golf Club at South Hampton. The team had a strong showing as they competed against several nationally ranked teams.

Coker placed ninth as a team with a score of 1003 (+139).

Freshman Haylie George led the Cobras and shot the low round in her collegiate career, shooting a 78 (+6) in round three. George birdied holes one and two in round three, overall she shot a 247 (+31). Katie Smith shot an 86 (+14) in round three and 250 (+34) overall. Freshman Lora Ledbetter shot an 83 (+11) on the day and 251 (+35) overall. Jenna Werle shot an 85 (+13) today and a 257 (+41) over the three rounds. Jordan White shot an 88 (+16) in round three and 261 (+45) overall.

"I am really proud of how the ladies went out the past two days and performed. They beat a bunch of teams, it shows all the hard work the girls are putting in is paying off," said John Hackney.

"Haylie had an exceptional final round today that started with early birdies. For her to put up a number in the '70s on that course shows her hard work is paying off," said Hackney.

The women hit the links again March 7-8 at the Converse Spring Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.. Live converge will be available at www.cokercobras.com
