Women’s Golf Finishes Round One at Savannah Lakes

MCCORMICK, SC - The Coker University women's golf team completed round one at the Savannah Lakes Invitational at the Savannah Lakes Golf Club today (Sept. 27).

Lindsay Cote leads the team after round one shooting a 77, she currently sits tied for 38th place. Jordan White finished the day tied for 43rd place, shooting a 78 on the day. Lora Ledbetter also turned in an 83 on the day. Katie Smith shot an 89 today, while Maggie Jennings-Campbell shot a 93 on the day.

"It was a gorgeous day to be playing college golf and a couple of our ladies played well," said head coach John Hackney. Freshman Lindsay Cote played the par 3s at 1-over and was just solid all day. She fired a 37 on her front nine and came in with a 40 on the back to shoot her collegiate low. Senior captain Jordan White didn't do anything flashy, but just hit a lot of fairways and greens to card a 78. I believe she is close to breaking through with a round of par or better. As a team, we only had one birdie, so we need to convert more opportunities when we get on the greens. This is a strong field with many ranked teams, but I know we can play consistently better. The ladies are working hard and staying positive, so lower scores will come."

The Cobras are back in action tomorrow as they complete play at the Savannah Lakes Invitational. The start time is set for 9 a.m. Coverage can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
