Women’s Golf Finishes Play at SAC Women’s Preview

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker women's golf team wrapped up their first tournament of the fall season with the second round of the South Atlantic Conference Preview at Hartsville Country Club on Tuesday (Sept. 14).

Jordan White followed up her solid first round with an even better score of 77 (+5) putting her at 160 (+16) for the tournament. Katie Smith recorded an 87 (+15) to put her total at 166 (+22) over the two days of competition. Freshman Lindsay Cote had a great bounce back day to shoot 83 (+11), ten shots better than her first round score.

The Cobras shot a team score of 327 (+39) for the round, improving on their first round total by six shots. They wrapped up the tournament with an overall score of 660 (+84), good enough for  a sixth place finish.

"It was a small field but it turned out to be a great tournament with an exciting finish," said Hackney. "I'm happy with the progression our young ladies are making. Jordan and and Lora both had excellent back nines today and Jordan put up a solid 77 overall. Just like Katie the day before, they really hit some outstanding shots. When they get it going, they can play with the best in our league. It was great to see Lindsay improve by 10 shots and I was super stoked to see Kenzie shoot her collegiate career low of 88. She really played well and had a contagious energy that was applauded by her playing competitors. This is a great bunch of Cobras, so it should be a fun season!"

Coker will next be in action at the Bearcat Classic in McCormick, S.C. Sept 27-28 playing at the Savannah Lakes Golf Club. Coverage can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
