Women's Golf Heads to Fleming Island for Spring Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College women's golf team will head to Fleming Island Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla. Feb. 26 & 27 to open their spring season at the Lincoln Memorial Women's Spring Intercollegiate. Head Coach Adam Goins expects great things from his team moving into the new season.

Led by seniors Angela Luna and Margaret Mills, the Cobras will look to make strides heading to Fleming Island. "Angela Luna is the senior leader of the team and we expect her to push her team on and off the golf course," Goins stated. "We have a fairly young team, so they will be finding their stride and learning as they go."

The Navy and Gold captured a tournament championship in the fall at the Converse College Fall Invite. Taylor Mayers led the Cobras with rounds of 72 and 82, finishing tied for second place overall in the tournament.

After the LMU Women's Spring Intercollegiate, Coker will return home to defend their title in the Coker Cobra Women's Golf Invitational at their home location at the Hartsville Country Club March 12-13.

Goins says the team has been "preparing for the tournaments heavily over the offseason." "The girls have been trying to focus on picking targets off the tee, helping to give them the best opportunity to score, putting them in position to win."

The Cobras will travel south to Orange Park, Fla. On Sunday (Feb. 25) and compete in two rounds on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 26-270 at Fleming Island Golf Club for the LMU Women's Spring Intercollegiate. Results from each round can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
