Cobra Women in 15th After Opening Round of Tusculum/Kiawah Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Coker women's golf team opened their 2012 spring season on Saturday with the first round of the Tusculum/Kiawah Intercollegiate at the par 72, 5,850 Cougar Point Golf Course on Kiawah Island. The Cobras shot a team score of 339 (+51) putting them in 15th place after the opening round. 

Florida Southern and Lynn University are tied for the lead at 297 (+9), followed by Barry University in third at 303 (+15).

Freshman Mallory Thompkins (Georgetown, S.C.) had the low round for Coker firing a 79 (+7). Krista Thorpe (Bracebridge, Ontario) was next at 83 (+11), followed by Sara Allen (Fort Mill, S.C.) with an 86 (+14). The Cobras sister duo of Jessi and Bobbi McKenzie (McBee, S.C.) rounded out the Coker golfers with scores of 91 (+19) and 100 (+28) respectively.

The Cobras will tee it up on Sunday for the final round of the Tusculum/Kiawah Intercollegiate starting at 8 a.m.
