Coker Women's Basketball Team Wins Third Straight Game

Wilson, N.C. -  The Coker women's basketball team (3-0) traveled to Wilson, NC on Thursday (Nov. 17th) and handed the Barton Bulldogs (0-4) the loss. The Cobras, who remained unbeaten on the young season, were led by senior forward, Valicia Demeritte, with 14 points and 14 rebounds as Coker saw nine players find the scorebook in the victory.  

The Cobras held a 35-24 edge at halftime and maintained their advantage the rest of the way outscoring the Bulldogs 17-8 in the final 10 minutes.  Coker's defense came up with 10 blocked shots and outrebounded the Bulldogs 50-43.  

Dasia Lambert and Mya Wasswa added nine points each for the Cobras.  

The Bulldog's junior guard, Lauren Walker, had a game-high 17 points and was the lone Barton player to score in double digits.  Coker's defense held Barton to 22 percent shooting (16-of-72) for the contest and forced 17 turnovers.
