Women's Basketball Falls to Anderson on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker University women's basketball fell to Anderson on Saturday (Jan. 29) in South Atlantic Conference action by a score of 67-54.

The Cobras battled through an early six-point deficit in the first quarter, before a layup from Ahlea Myers and a three-pointer from Diamond Jackson in the final 90 seconds of the period put the Cobras ahead 15-14 after 10 minutes.

The Trojans found their groove offensively in the second quarter, taking a 28-22 lead to the half. The Cobras battled until the final horn on their home floor.

Myers led the Cobras with 15 points in the game, while Saquita Joyner added 11 and Hope Richardson also contributed 10. Five other Cobras scored in the game. Ashauntee Nelson and Raya Coley each pulled down a team-high five rebounds in the game, while seven others were active on the glass in the game for the Cobras. Myers also dished out a team-high two assists in the game, while Joyner, Abigail Keesling and Coley also each had one. Nelson led the way with three steals in the game, while Dasia Lambert and Je'Nya Wilder each registered two and Myers also had one.

The Cobras return to the floor on Wednesday (Feb. 2) to face Limestone in South Atlantic Conference action. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from Gaffney, S.C., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
