CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Coker College women's basketball team completed a season sweep of Queens University with a 70-63 overtime victory Wednesday (Jan. 31) evening in South Atlantic Conference play.  The Cobras have now won five of their last six games against the Royals, dating back to the 2015-16 season. 

Janea Williams was dominant for the Cobras, scoring a career-high 30 points while adding 13 rebounds and eight blocks.  She now ranks second in the South Atlantic Conference with 2.6 blocks per game.  It's the second time this season Williams has recorded eight blocks in a single game, and the fourth time she's recorded five or more. 

Coker opened the game with a 14-10 lead thanks to a strong first quarter from Williams and Caitland Considine. Williams hit four of her five field goal attempts, while Considine dished out four assists.  

The Royals used a 14-2 run to start the second quarter and took their biggest lead of the night at 24-16 before the Cobras began a furious comeback, scoring eight-straight points in just 90 seconds to tie the game at 24. 

Both teams battled throughout with nine ties and seven lead changes between them for the game. Queens had a chance to take a lead late in regulation, but a critical missed free throw kept the scored tied 57-57 and sent the game to overtime.

The Cobras jumped out to a quick lead in overtime and never looked back. Hayley Kropp and Williams each made baskets to give Coker the lead, and excellent free throw shooting shutdown any hope the Royals had of a comeback.  The Cobras hit 22 of their 29 free throws on the evening, including 11 of 11 in the fourth quarter. 

Coker will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 3) when they travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to take on the Mars Hill Lions.  Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
