Coker Welcomes Wingate for Monday SAC Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's basketball team will welcome the Wingate University Bulldogs on Monday (Jan. 22) in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m. in the DeLoach Center. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com. 

The Navy and Gold head into tomorrow's contest with a balanced offensive attack that includes three players averaging eight or more points per game. Hayley Kropp leads Coker averaging 12.7 points per game. Erin Houser trails Kropp with 9.3 points per game and Janea Williams is third on the team in scoring, putting up 8.9 points per game. In addition, Iresha Cooper is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.1 points per game and shooting 61.6 percent from the field, which leads the conference. Shay Jackson has made offensive contributions coming off the bench, averaging seven points per game and recording a career-high 27 points against Anderson on Jan. 13. 

On the defensive end, Williams has anchored the Navy and Gold with a team-leading 9.1 rebounds per game and 2.5 blocks per game. Her season mark in rebounds and blocks per game are good for second in the conference. Kropp has also contributed on the defensive end, averaging a team-high 1.5 steals per game. 

Wingate enters tomorrow's contest with a 14-3 overall record that includes a 8-2 mark in conference play. Marta Miscenko leads the Bulldogs offensively, averaging 16.2 points per game, which comes in as the seventh-best mark in the SAC. Miscenko also leads the conference in blocks with 2.9 per game.

As mentioned, opening tip is set for 6 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students.
