Coker Hosts Anderson on First Responders/Military Appreciation Day

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's basketball team will host the Anderson University Trojans on Saturday (Jan. 13) in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m. in the DeLoach Center. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com. In addition, military veterans, active duty, and first responders will be honored during the game. 

The Navy and Gold head into tomorrow's contest with a steady offensive attack that includes three players averaging nine or more points per game. Hayley Kropp leads Coker averaging 12.3 points per game. Erin Houser trails Kropp with 9.3 points per game and Janea Williams is third on the team in scoring, putting up 9.2 points per game. In addition, Iresha Cooper is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.2 points per game and shooting 60.9 percent from the field, good for second in the conference. 

On the defensive end, Williams has anchored the Navy and Gold with a team-leading 9.2 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks per game. Her season mark in rebounds per game is third best in the SAC, while her blocks per game are good for second in the conference. Kropp has also made significant contributions on the defensive end, averaging a team-high 1.4 steals per game. 

Anderson enters tomorrow's contest with an 11-5 overall record that includes a 5-3 mark in conference play. Alexy Mollenhauer leads the Trojans offensively, averaging 11.8 points per game. 

As mentioned, opening tip is set for 2 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students. Military veterans, active duty, and first responders who present a valid I.D. will receive free admission.
