Coker Falls at Anderson in SAC Play

ANDERSON, S.C.- Coker women's basketball fell to Anderson 83-56 in South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday (Feb. 4).

The Cobras struggled in the first quarter, scoring eight points and trailing by 15 after 10 minutes. Coker found its rhythm offensively in the next three quarters, but could not overcome the lead that Anderson had built.

The Cobras trailed by 18 at the half, before going on the offensive in the third. After a 5-0 Anderson run to start the frame, Coker responded with six unanswered, starting with an Aloni McFarland layup. McFarland would make another play on the following possession, getting the steal and layup. Shay Jackson got in on the action on the following possession, counting the bucket as she was fouled on the play.

The Cobras scored 19 points in the third and 14 in the fourth. Iresha Cooper led the Navy and Gold with 17 points and six rebounds, while Caitland Considine, McFarland and Trai Johnson each added seven. As a team, Coker pulled down 37 rebounds, scored 15 points off turnovers and 34 points in the paint. The visitors also got 28 points from their bench in the contest.

The Cobras hit the road again on Wednesday (Feb. 8) when they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
