COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Coker Cobra women's basketball team lost its non-conference match-up with the regionally ranked No. 5 Benedict Tigers 83-57 on Wednesday (Dec. 30) evening.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 28-12 lead in the first quarter, but the Cobras won the second quarter, 17-15, to trim the lead to just 14 (43-29) at the half.

The Cobras kept things close in the second half, but the Tiger offense was too much to overcome as they took home the 83-57 victory.

Jazz Green poured in 11 points to lead Coker, and she pulled down five rebounds. This marks 11 games this season that Green has scored in double figures. Also scoring in double figures was Kendra Lambert with 10 points and five rebounds. Sydney Shull and Mariah Johnson added seven points each with four and three rebounds, respectively.

The Cobras will return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 6) for a South Atlantic Conference game at Wingate. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
