NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Coker College women's basketball team dropped a South Atlantic Conference road matchup to the Newberry Wolves on Wednesday (Jan. 21) 69-63.

Newberry never trailed in the first half, and took an eight point lead into the half over Coker. The Cobras rallied heavily on shots from behind the arc, with five of their seven first half baskets coming from three-point range.

The Navy and Yellow were down by 12 with 14:30 left in the contest, but a 10-0 run over the next three minutes would leave the Cobras only down by two. Coker would continue the solid play offensively and would take a 50-45 lead with under eight minutes left in the game.

The Wolves shot well down the stretch and outscored Coker 24-13 in the last seven minutes of the game to take home the victory.

Seniors Tanesha Stenson and Hailey Yohn who scored 20 and 12 points, respectively, led the Cobras.  Senior Kim Manning rounded out the double-digit scoring, pouring in 10 points, while classmate Priscilla Fenty pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Cobras will be in action on Saturday (Jan. 24) as they travel to Tusculum College to take on the Pioneers. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
