Coker Looking to Trump Queens

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team will amp up to take on Queens University of Charlotte in a SAC competition on Wednesday (Jan. 8) in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.  A live video webcast of the game will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

In their first meeting of the season, Tanesha Stenson hit a buzzer beater to lift the Cobras to a 66-64 win over the Royals.  Stenson led all scorers in that game with 21 points.

Coker will be relying on the offensive power of Stenson again for the upcoming showdown against Queens, as she leads the team with 15.8 points per game.  Junior guard Hailey Yohn will also be expected to make a big offensive impact as the second leading scorer on the team with 11.5 points per game.

Defensively, Coker will be looking for a strong post presence from junior and senior forwards Priscilla Fenty and Jessica Cohen.  Fenty and Cohen average 6.5 and 6.3 rebounds per game, respectively.

In their most recent competition, Queens is coming off a 70-57 win over Mars Hill.  The Royals are led by Shonice Pettaway and Nikia Squire, who average 17.1 and 13.1 points per game, respectively.

Game time is set for 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8:00.  Tickets for Wednesday's game can be purchased at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff.  Wednesday is also Trinity-Byrnes night.  All Trinity-Byrnes students, faculty and staff will receive free admission to the game.
