Cobras Drop Nonconference Game to Armstrong, 110-86

SAVANNAH, GA. – The Coker women's basketball team lost 110-86 against Armstrong Atlantic State University on Sunday (Dec. 1) in a nonconference competition.  With the loss Coker drops to 4-2 on the year, while Armstrong improves to 4-1.

Armstrong grabbed the lead early in the first half and did not surrender it.  The Pirates had a 17 point lead at the midway point, but Coker would battle back to cut the Armstrong advantage to just eight points at the half.

Coker scored the first bucket out of the locker room to pull within six, but the Pirates would score on the next two offensive possessions to keep a double-digit lead.  Armstrong's offense continued to click throughout the final 20 minutes of the game, scoring 60 second half points. Despite having five players for Coker reach double-digit scoring, the Cobras could not overcome the strong offensive run from the home team.

Offensively, Hailey Yohn and Jessica Cohen led the Cobras in scoring with 19 and 18 points respectively.   Cohen would also chip in a team leading seven rebounds for the Cobras.  Tanesha Stenson would net 14 points for Coker, while also dishing out five assists.  Priscilla Fenty and Kelley Godbout were next on the scoring chart with 13 and 10 points each.

Coker will return home on Saturday (Dec. 7), to host Lincoln Memorial in a SAC competition.  Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
