No. 2 Duke Tops Coker in Exhibition Game

DURHAM, N.C. – Jessica Cohen led the Cobras with 15 points in an exhibition game against the No. 2 ranked Duke University on Sunday (Nov. 3) at Cameron Indoor Stadium.  The Cobras however lost the game by a final score of 102-50.

The Blue Devils went on a quick 4-0 run to start the first half, but Coker's Terrika Foster answered with two points of her own.  Duke's offensive efficiency however, would ultimately allow them to open up a large lead in the first ten minutes.

Coker's offense began to heat up midway through the first half, controlling an 8-2 offensive run with nine minutes remaining.  Raquel McArthur would eventually go on to give Coker the momentum at halftime after hitting a buzzer beating three from the top of the arc.

Both teams exchanged points to start the second half, but Duke's superior size would prove to be the ultimate factor as the Blue Devils ended the game with 74 points in the paint.

Tanesha Stenson was next on the scoring list for Coker with nine points for the day.  Stenson also lead the team with seven rebounds, two steals, and three assists.  Junior guard Heidrun Kristmundsdottir contributed eight points, including going 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

As a team, the Cobras collected 32 rebounds,  five steals, and 12 assists.

Coker will open up their regular season on Saturday (Nov. 9) in a nonconference competition against Pfeiffer.  Game time is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start.
