Cobras Take Down Bobcats, 55-45

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team defeated the Lees McRae (6-6, 4-5) Bobcats 55-45, and completed the regular season sweep in a Conference Carolinas competition on Saturday (Jan. 19).  With the win the Cobras improve to 10-6 on the year, and 6-4 in league play.

The game was tied a two points at the one minute mark, but the Cobras took over after that point.  Coker came out shooting and sparked an 11-0 run within the first 10-minutes of the game.  The Cobras shot 46-percent (13-of-28) from the floor and were able to take 34-23 lead into the break.

The scoring spree continued into the second half, as the Cobras started the final 20-mintes with an 8-0 run.  Coker was able extend their lead to 19, and never surrendered it. 

Nine different players scored for the Cobras, as the bench contributed 26-points to the scoreboard.  Autumn Lau led the team with a game high 14-points, along with two blocks and five rebounds.  Priscilla Fenty was second on the scoring list with eight points.  Fenty and Theresa Jackson-Henderson ended the competition tied for a game high with seven rebounds each.

Coker will hit the road and travel to Pfieffer for their next Conference Carolinas competition on Thursday (Jan. 24).  The game is scheduled to commence at 5:30 pm.
