Cobras Joust Knights With 89-51 Victory

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team gathered their second home win of the season on Sunday (Dec. 16) afternoon when they defeated St. Andrews 89-51 in a non-conference match up.  With the win the Cobras improve to 6-2 on the year. 

The Cobras jumped out to an early lead, and never surrendered it.  Coker shot 51-percent from the floor in the first half, and took a commanding 52-18 lead into the locker room. 

The second half proved to be much more competitive, as the Knights came out firing and scored 33-points in the final 20-minutes.  The deficit however, was too much to overcome as Coker put up 37 second half points of their own and preserved the victory. 

Autumn Lau once again led the game in scoring for the second consecutive competition with 29-points.  Amber Lau and Kelley Godbout each contributed 15-points, while Hannah Kuhn collected a game high 8 rebounds.

As a team the Cobras scored 42-of-89 points in the paint, and scored 32-points off of 25 St. Andrews turnovers.  Coker also hit 81-percent of their free throws, while the bench chipped in 26-points.

The Knights had three players reach double-digit scoring figures, with Danielle Childress leading the team at 15-points.  Jazmyne Harvey tallied 11-points, while Tyler Knight landed 10.

The Cobras will be looking to keep their streak alive as they travel to UNC Pembroke on Sunday, December 30.  The game is scheduled to commence at 4 p.m.
