Cobras Defeat Lincoln Memorial 61-59 in Overtime

HARROGATE, TENN. – The Coker women's basketball team defeated Lincoln Memorial (1-1) 61-59 in an overtime thriller on Saturday (Nov. 10) evening.  The Cobras improve to 2-0 on the season.

Hailey Yohn had another outstanding performance with a game high 17-points.  Yohn shot 50-percent (6-of-12) from the floor, and 55-percent from three point range 5-of-9).

The first half proved to be a battle, as neither team could take the lead.  With less than seven minutes remaining in the half, Lincoln Memorial went on an 8-4 run to take a 24-21 lead into the locker room.

The second half proved to be a similar story as both teams exchanged buckets.  Then with 13-seconds remaining in regulation, Yohn proved to be a clutch shooter yet again when she hit the game tying three to force overtime action.

With 47-seconds remaining in overtime the score was tied at 59.  Out of a Coker timeout, Angie Lawrence hit a jump shot that would prove to be the game winner.  Lawrence totaled 15-points and three assist on the night.

Amber Lau was the unsung hero of the game scoring 11-points with a team high seven assist, and snagging down seven rebounds.  Along with Yohn, Lawrence and Lau, Jasmine Evans reached double-digits with 10-points in the competition.

The Cobras will be back on the court next Saturday (Nov. 17), as they travel to face Limestone in their first Conference Carolinas competition of the year.  The game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
