GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Coker women’s basketball team’s woes continued on Saturday night as the Lady Cobras lost their seventh game in a row, fall to the Limestone Saints 86-60. The Conference Carolinas loss, is also Coker’s seventh straight, dropping them to 1-9 in conference play and 2-13 overall, while Limestone improves to an even 5-5 in the conference and 7-8 overall.

The Saints of Limestone dominated the offense all night, placing four players in double figures, including Maria Young, Ashley Robinson and Lauren Pace with 19, 18 and 17 points respectively. The trio also recorded six rebounds apiece to lead the Saints. The fourth player in double figures was Tia Williams with 10 points, while Whitney Todd came off the bench to pull down a game high nine rebounds.

Leading the Lady Cobras was sophomore guard Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) with 13 points and three rebounds, while the Limestone defense was able to contain the Finish connection of Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland) and Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, Finland). Limestone held the Lady Cobras two leading scorers to just nine points each, with Aaltonen grabbing five rebounds and Koponen grabbing three rebounds.

Coker struggled shooting all game, hitting just 24-of-66 (36.4%) shots from field, compared to Limestone’s 47.6 percent.

Coker returns to action on Monday, Jan.25, when the Lady Cobras host Barton College at 5:30 p.m.
