BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae’s Lauren Casey had a game high 33 points, to lead the Lady Bobcats to a 79-63 win over Coker College in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The loss is the Lady Cobras fourth in a row, dropping them to 2-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play, while the win improves Lees-McRae to 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Coker’s Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, Finalnd ) was the scoring leader for the Lady Cobras, netting 17 points, while pulling down  six rebounds. Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland) added 15 points and seven rebounds and a trio of Lady Cobras scored eight points; Jamie Birr (Burnsville, Minn.), Keisha Beavers (Williamstown, N.J.) and AG Stanciauskaite  (Silute, Lithuania).

Joining Casey in double figures for the Lady Bobcats were Colette Montgomery with 20 points and seven rebounds and Jania Thurua had 11 points and four rebounds. To add to Casey’s stellar scoring performance, she also had nine assists, eight rebounds and six steals.

Coker returns to action on Monday, Jan. 18, when they host Anderson University for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off, while Lees-McRae will travel to Limestone College.
