Belmont, N.C. – The Coker Lady Cobras basketball team dropped their sixth straight game on Tuesday night with a 59-48 loss to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action. The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while the Abbey improves to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Neither team shot the ball exceptionally well, with the Crusaders shooting 33.3 percent from the field and Coker shooting only 30 percent from the floor. The difference in the game came at the charity stripe, where Coker sent the Crusaders to the line 33 times, converting on 25 of those times.

Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, Finland) led the Lady Cobras in scoring for the second straight game, dropping 22 points and grabbing six rebounds. Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) and Kiesha Beavers (Williamstown, N.J.) had seven and six points respectively, with four rebounds apiece.

For the Abbey, Asha Hardaway had 14 points and eight rebounds to pace the Crusaders, while Ashley Giddens had 12 points and six rebounds. Kelsey Daniel just missed a double-double scoring nine points, while pulling down 11 rebounds, with Shayla Jackson also scored nine points with seven rebounds.

Coker returns to action on Wednesday night when they take on non-conference foe Morris College at 5:00 p.m. in Sumter, S.C., while Belmont Abbey will face Shaw University on Saturday, Dec. 5.
