Hartsville, S.C.- Coker senior forward Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland) had a game high 24 points and 18 rebounds, but was unable to lead Coker to their first Conference Carolinas win of the season, as the Lady Cobras fell to the Erskine College Flying Fleet 79-67 on Monday night.

The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in the conference, while Erskine improves to 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in the conference.

Three members of the Fleet scored in double figures with Porsha Morgan leading the way with 23 points, follows by Audrrey Timmerman with 18 points and Neci Allen with 10 points. Elizabeth Tatum led Erskine on boards, grabbing nine rebounds, while chipping in nine points.

To accompany Koponen’s outstanding play, Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, Finland) scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Megan Thomas (Cresskill, N.J.) had 10 points.

It was closely contested first half, with Erskine taking a two point advantage into the locker room, but the Fleet turned up the intensity in the second half and outscored the Lady Cobras by 10 points to take the win.

The deciding difference in the game came from shooting as Coker shot just 29.9 percent from the floor compared to Erskine’s 47.4 percent.

Coker returns to action after the Thanksgiving break to face Coastal Carolina University on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2:00 p.m.
