WILSON, NC – All but one player scored for the Barton College women’s basketball team Monday night as it romped past visiting Coker 83-62.

 

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 14-5 overall and 10-2 (second) in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference while Coker dropped to 4-14 overall and 3-9 in league action.

 

Coker never led in the game, but the Lady Cobras rallied within 38-35 at intermission and pulled as close as 42-40 with 18:10 left.

 

That’s when Barton’s depth and full-court press took its toll. The Lady Bulldogs went on a 12-2 run, then after three Coker baskets, on 14-0 run to the put the game away. The largest lead was 27 points.

 

Senior Anjessa Evans (13 points), senior Keauna Vinson (12) and junior Jo Denevan (10) spearheaded the Barton attack.

 

The Lady Bulldogs, who have won all seven games in the “Dog House” this season, finished with a 38-31 advantage in rebounding and benefited from 31 Lady Cobra turnovers. Adrienne Walker collected five steals and Candice Britton had six assists.

 

For Coker, Ashley White netted 18 points and nine boards and Tameka Spain notched 12 points.
