ANDERSON, S.C. Mikala Fogle-Wilson scored a career-high 29 points and LaShonda Chiles added 22 to lead Anderson University to a 100-55 rout of Coker College in a CVAC women’s game Thursday night at the Abney Center.

 

Anderson, 13-3 overall and 9-1 in the CVAC, topped 100 points for the first time this season. The victory also sets up a Saturday night showdown with Barton for first place in the CVAC standings. The loss drops Coker to 4-12, 3-7.

 

Anderson, ranked No. 4 in the East Region, never trailed and led by double digits by the midway point of the first half. The Lady Trojans scored the final five points of the first half to take a 46-20 lead at the break.

 

In the second half, Coker continued to press and Anderson took advantage. The Lady Trojans cracked the Cobra press to shoot 67 percent from the field in the second half.

 

Fogle-Wilson, a sophomore from Columbia, erupted for 13 straight points late in the game to push Anderson’s lead to 38 – 88-50 – with 5:02 to play. Fogle-Wilson finished the game 10-for-16 from the field and 4-for-6 from behind the arc. Deidra Langston added 14 points and Keana Boyd chipped in 12 for Anderson. Chiles also contributed eight of Anderson’s 23 assists.

 

Coker was led by India Elliot with 15 points and Rachel Kolbeek with 12 points.

 

Anderson shot 57 percent from the field while limiting Coker to 28 percent. Anderson has limited three of its last five opponents to less than 60 points.

 

The Lady Trojans had another big night at the free throw line – 25-for-27. Anderson has made 20 or more free throws in its last seven games.
