HARTSVILLE, SC — Coker snapped a six game skid with a convincing 67-47 victory over visiting Pfeiffer University in women’s collegiate basketball.  The Cobras move to 5-11 overall and 2-7 in the CVAC, while the Falcons drop to 2-12 and 2-6 in the conference.

Coker started slow in the first half, scoring only four points in the first six minutes.  The Falcons were unable to take advantage, however, and it cost them when the Cobras found their mark.  CC trailed 11-6 with 11:14 on the clock but outscored Pfeiffer 27-5 the rest of the way.  Coker had 11 offensive rebounds in the period and forced 13 Falcon turnovers.

The Cobras continued to play well defensively in the second half and Pfeiffer didn’t hit the 20 point mark until the 11:15 mark of the second period.  Coker held its largest advantage of the game at 51-23 with just over nine minutes remaining.

Senior Shamae Hemingway/Conway, SC turned in a dominating performance with 22 points, 18 rebounds and two blocks to lead the Cobras.  Classmate Michelle Glover/Beaufort, SC added 17 points and nine boards and four steals and freshman Tyesha Ervin/Darlington, SC finished with eight points and four assists. 

Angela Hagen scored 14 points on mostly inside moves to lead the Falcons and Sarah Reese tallied 10 points from the outside.  Coker held a 46-30 rebounding edge and forced 20 Pfeiffer turnovers.
