HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker fell behind by as many as 17 points in the first half and couldn’t recover in a 67-52 loss to St. Andrews Presbyterian College Monday afternoon.  CC drops to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in the CVAC and the Knights improve to 7-5, 3-3 in the conference.

The offense didn’t come easy at the start of the game with a combined 14 points after six minutes of play.  Unfortunately for Coker, 12 of those points belonged to St. Andrews.  CC rallied to pull within six but the Knights then went on an 11-0 run to take a 23-6 advantage. 

The Cobras cut the lead to 31-21 at halftime but SAPC scored five straight out of the break and went on to lead by as many as 21 points.  In the final two minutes a pair of three-pointers by Justina Dakins/Barron, WI and Ashley Brooks/Hillsborough, NC gave Coker a shot by decreasing the lead to 61-52 with 1:06 to play.  CC was unable to score again, however and the Knights went 6-6 from the foul line to end the game.

Senior Shamae Hemingway/Conway, SC finished with 12 points and seven rebounds and sophomore India Elliott/Faison, NC totaled 11 points and two assists. 

Mandy Coltrain led St. Andrews with 23 points and Karen Foggie added 14 points and six rebounds.  Ashley Mitchell had 11 points and three assists, while Jennifer Burns recorded 10 points and six rebounds.

The Cobras managed only 32 percent shooting in the game but did connect on 12-13 free-throw attempts.  The Knights shot 49 percent from the field and out-rebound CC 33-27.
