After a sloppy beginning which saw the score only 8-7 Coker with 11:36 remaining, Belmont Abbey went on an 18-2 run, keyed by back-to-back three-pointers from Valorie Bennett, to take a 25-10 lead with 5:46 left. Coker clawed their way back into the game and would cut the lead to 30-23 at half after Shamae Hemingway's basket with four seconds left.

The Crusaders extended their lead in the second half, leading by as many as 13 points on several occasions, the last being 45-32 after a three-pointer by Heather Schleupner with 11:55 left. Coker rallied, scoring ten straight points over the next 2:48 and closing to within 45-42 after a Justina Dakins basket with 9:07 remaining.

After a timeout, Bennett answered with a huge three-pointer to push the lead back to six, then hit another 1:51 later to extend the lead to nine with 7:01 left. Coker was able to close back to within six when Hemingway scored to cut the lead to 55-49 with 6:04 left, but that would be as close as they would get. Belmont Abbey outscored Coker 17-6 the rest of the way, with Nicole Woods scoring 12 of those points, and the second-seeded Crusaders went on to victory.

Woods led Belmont Abbey with 19 points and 10 assists, while Schleupner had 17, Bennett 12, and Debra Wilcox finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
